FBR shuts Down Two Islamabad Restaurants Over Issuing Fake Invoice

The Regional Tax Office (RTO) in Islamabad has recently taken strong action to stop fraudulent activities by sealing two popular restaurants in the Blue Area and Super Market. Each restaurant was found issuing fake receipts and is now facing a hefty penalty of Rs. 0.5 million.

This action comes in line with the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) new Point of Sales (POS) Prize Scheme, which is designed to improve tax compliance and prevent fraud. Through this initiative, citizens are encouraged to check and report fake receipts using the Tax Asaan app. Those who submit verified reports can even receive cash rewards as a thank-you for helping maintain fair practices.

If a business is reported and verified as issuing fake receipts, it can face immediate closure, along with penalties. This initiative highlights the FBR’s strong commitment to ensuring that taxes are accurately collected, helping to support the national economy and strengthen public services. Through these efforts, the FBR is working not only to prevent fraud but also to raise awareness among businesses and consumers about the importance of honest tax practices.
