FBR to Auction Karachi’s Bahria Icon Tower Over Rs. 26 Billion Tax Default

FBR has decided to auction the famous Bahria Icon Tower in Clifton, Karachi, because of unpaid taxes worth Rs. 26.46 billion. The auction will take place on June 19, 2025, at the Large Taxpayers’ Office in Islamabad.

In addition to the Bahria Icon Tower, the Mall of Islamabad is also included in the auction list. Both properties are being sold under the Income Tax Ordinance to recover the large amount of tax money that is still due.

This action by the FBR comes shortly after the federal budget for 2025-26 was presented. It sends a strong message that the government is serious about taking action against those who do not pay their taxes. By auctioning high-value assets like these, the FBR aims to recover dues and enforce the country’s tax laws more strictly.

Officials say that the step is part of a larger plan to stop tax evasion and improve revenue collection. The FBR wants to show that even powerful and well-known businesses will be held accountable if they fail to pay taxes.

The Bahria Icon Tower is one of the tallest and most well-known buildings in Pakistan, and the decision to auction it has drawn a lot of attention.

The outcome of the auction will likely set an example for others who try to avoid taxes. It also reflects the government’s growing focus on making sure tax rules are followed to support the economy.
