Firefighters climbed up on foot to a hilltop to put out a fire that started in the Margalla Avenue range, according to the district administration. The fire broke out late at night and quickly spread across the dry area, creating concern for nearby surroundings.
Due to the rough and steep terrain, vehicles could not reach the exact location, so the firefighters had to walk up the hill carrying their equipment.
Rescue teams worked for several hours to control the blaze. After continuous efforts, they successfully brought the fire under control at around 4:15 am.
Even after the flames were extinguished, the teams stayed at the site to carry out the cooling process. This step was necessary to make sure the fire did not start again from hidden heat or burning debris.
A spokesperson for the district administration said that nearly 30 firefighters from the Environment Directorate participated in the operation.
They acted quickly and showed strong teamwork to prevent the fire from spreading further. Their timely response helped protect the nearby environment and reduced the risk of damage.
Officials said that such incidents often increase during dry weather conditions, especially in hilly areas covered with bushes and grass. They urged the public to avoid lighting fires in open spaces and to report any signs of smoke immediately.
The administration appreciated the firefighters for their dedication and hard work in managing the situation efficiently and safely.
