Arizona State University (ASU) is working together with Pakistan to launch the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Lahore. This will be the first campus of an American university in the country. The institute is expected to open in the fall of 2025.
NIT will provide high-quality education through two main schools — one focused on Management Sciences and the other on Data Sciences and Information Technology. The aim is to offer students a world-class education that follows a U.S.-style curriculum, while still respecting and reflecting the local culture and values of Pakistan.
One of the most exciting parts of this partnership is that students will be able to earn dual degrees, meaning they can receive recognition from both Pakistani and international institutions. They will also have opportunities to take part in global exchange programs, allowing them to study abroad and gain international experience.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed this development and called it an important step towards creating more job opportunities for the country’s youth. He believes that this partnership will help empower young people through better access to modern education and skills, which are essential for Pakistan’s future.
