First-Ever Robotic Surgery Successfully Performed at Karachi’s Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC)

Robotic surgery is a modern way of performing surgeries that uses robots to help doctors with precise and accurate movements.

Instead of the surgeon using their hands directly, they control robotic arms from a special console. This method is especially useful for surgeries in the lower abdomen, like removing gallstones, as it causes less pain and allows patients to recover faster compared to traditional open surgery.

In 2019, Pakistan saw its first-ever robotic surgery performed at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute. Now, for the first time in Karachi, a public hospital called Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) has also successfully conducted robotic surgery.

This achievement is a big step forward for healthcare in Pakistan. It shows that the country has the latest technology and skilled doctors to carry out complex surgeries using robots. This development could mean that more patients in Pakistan might get access to robotic surgery, which could lead to better results and a higher quality of life for them.
