First Saudi Female Athlete Donia Abu Talib Qualifies for Paris Olympics

Saudi taekwondo athlete Dunia Abutaleb has made history by securing her spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics, becoming the first Saudi woman to directly qualify for the Games. Abutaleb’s journey to the Olympics began with her remarkable performance in the Asian Olympic qualifying tournaments, where she competed in the 49-weight category.

Her qualification is a testament to her exceptional skill and determination, marking a significant milestone in her impressive career on both Asian and global platforms. Among her notable achievements are bronze medals at both global and Asian levels during the 2022-2023 season.

Saudi Sports Minister and President of the Saudi and Paralympic Olympic Committee, Prince Abdulaziz Al Faisal, congratulated Abutaleb on her historic achievement, highlighting the nation’s continuous success and ambition under divine grace and leadership.

Shaddad Al Amri, President of the Saudi Taekwondo Federation, expressed immense joy over Abutaleb’s accomplishment, emphasizing the strength of Saudi taekwondo athletes in international competitions. Al Amri also reiterated the federation’s commitment to achieving top results and competing at the highest levels in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
