WASA Faisalabad has announced a new project to improve the city’s water system by building its first-ever recharge well along with an underground water storage tank. The main goal of this initiative is to manage rainwater more effectively and help increase groundwater levels, especially during the monsoon season.
According to officials, the recharge well will be constructed on the green belt of Susaan Road. This well will allow rainwater to seep back into the ground instead of being wasted, helping to recharge underground water reserves. In addition to this, an underground storage tank will be built near Faizan Madina Chowk to temporarily store rainwater and support faster drainage during heavy rainfall.
Officials recently visited both locations to review the plans and assess the sites. They explained that the project is being launched in advance of the monsoon to reduce waterlogging and ensure quick disposal of rainwater from busy areas of the city. Proper drainage during the rainy season will help protect roads, reduce inconvenience for residents, and minimize damage to infrastructure.
The project is also expected to support better urban water management in Faisalabad. By collecting and reusing rainwater, the city can reduce pressure on existing water resources and improve long-term water sustainability. Along with these benefits, the development will contribute to city beautification. Susaan Road is planned to be transformed into a model green area, improving the overall look and environment of the city.
