Pakistan has achieved a historic milestone in football as its Under-16 men’s national team will take part in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament for the first time ever. The tournament will be held in Kazakhstan from April 24 to April 30, 2026, and will also include teams from Russia and Azerbaijan.
This participation marks an important moment for Pakistan football, as it reflects growing efforts to strengthen youth development and provide young players with international exposure.
Competing in a UEFA-organized tournament will give Pakistan’s U16 players the chance to face strong teams and experience a higher level of competition.
Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Mohsen Gilani described the event as a major step forward for the country’s football journey.
He said the federation is focused on building a strong foundation by investing in youth programs and grassroots football. According to him, international tournaments like this play a key role in helping young players understand global football standards.
The tournament will offer Pakistan’s young footballers valuable learning opportunities, both on and off the field. Playing against teams from different football cultures will help them improve their skills, teamwork, and confidence. It will also allow coaches and officials to assess player development at an international level.
This historic appearance shows Pakistan’s increasing presence in the global football community. It also highlights the PFF’s commitment to long-term growth by nurturing young talent and giving them platforms to grow. Many believe this step could open new doors for future participation in international youth competitions.
