Pakistan has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the gaming business Garena to hold a national e-sports event. At the signing ceremony of the MoU, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry hailed the progress.
“Garena is a well-known firm,” Fawad said, adding that “Free Fire (a battle royale game) is organising a nationwide competition for the first time in conjunction with Bigo.”
The minister went on to say that 567 Pakistani teams will be competing in the gaming event. “Prizes of up to Rs10 million will be awarded to the event’s victors. The winner team will also be eligible to compete in an international competition with a total prize pool of $2 million.”
