Ali Zaman, a former Iraqi goldsmith, has achieved an extraordinary milestone by completing what is believed to be the world’s largest handwritten Quran in Istanbul.
The project, which took six years of hard work and patience, is a remarkable example of devotion, craftsmanship, and faith.
The massive manuscript measures about 4 meters in length and 1.5 meters in width. Every word and design was created completely by hand, using traditional reed pens and written in the elegant thuluth script — a classic Arabic calligraphy style known for its beauty and precision.
Zaman moved to Istanbul in 2017 and dedicated himself fully to this project. He worked every day at the Mihrimah Sultan Mosque complex, turning his vision into reality without any outside financial help. Funding the entire effort himself, he made sure each page reflected the respect and care the Holy Quran deserves.
