In 2007, a young man stepped off a train at Karachi Railway Station with a second-hand backpack, a pocketful of 6,000 rupees, and no connections but a dream bigger than the skyline he was walking into.
That man was Modood Ahmed, and today he stands as the Founder & CEO of Tribe Consulting, a global BPO and outsourcing company employing over 2,200 people in multiple countries. His journey from humble beginnings to industry leader is more than inspirational it’s transformational.
With no investors, no elite degree, and no safety net, Modood borrowed Rs. 10,000 to reach Karachi. After travel and a week’s rent, he was left with Rs. 6,000 just enough to survive or just enough to start. He chose to start. Dropping off résumés by foot and facing countless rejections, he didn’t give up. “I wasn’t here to survive. I was here to start something,” he said.
That “something” became Tribe Consulting, launched in a 200 sq. ft. office with five employees. Built on resilience and organic growth, Tribe grew into a diversified firm serving fintech, e-commerce, healthcare, telecom, and more offering services in customer support, tech outsourcing, AI-driven recruitment, logistics tech, SaaS, PropTech, and QSR innovation.
Modood’s entrepreneurial portfolio is vast, but his success metric remains simple: lives changed. “Every salary we pay isn’t just a number. It’s rent. It’s school fees. That’s the only bottom line I care about.”
In 2024, Tribe Consulting earned the HBL P@SHA Award for Best BPO Company, a nod to its incredible rise and excellence in service delivery. But for Modood, accolades matter less than impact.
Despite international offers, Modood stayed rooted in Pakistan. From Karachi to Lahore to Islamabad, his mission has always been to create local opportunity with global reach. His leadership style is grounded in empathy, empowerment, and ethics refusing to accept broken systems and building alternatives that work.
Now a mentor, investor, and global speaker, Modood remains humble. He lives simply, remembering his walk from the train station to today’s boardrooms. As he often says, “I once walked alone. Now, I walk with a Tribe.”
