Fuel Relief Soon! Petrol Prices in Pakistan Likely to Drop by Rs 80 Per Litre

Pakistani consumers are expected to get major relief, with petrol and diesel prices potentially dropping by up to Rs 80 per litre in the coming days.

The sharp decline in global oil prices following the recent ceasefire between Iran and the United States has created room for a significant reduction in local fuel rates. The government is working quickly to pass on this benefit to the public.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the relevant ministries to ensure that the full relief reaches the people without delay. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has almost completed its calculations and will soon submit its recommendations to the Petroleum Division. The final decision will be taken after approval from the Prime Minister.

If approved, the new lower prices are likely to be implemented from April 11, 2026.

This expected price cut comes after several record fuel price hikes in recent months that have badly affected common citizens. In response, both the federal and provincial governments had already announced targeted relief packages for motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers, transporters, and farmers.

A drop of up to Rs 80 per litre in petrol and diesel will bring much-needed breathing space to households, transporters, and the agriculture sector. It is also expected to help control inflation and reduce transportation costs nationwide.
