Twitter users can now charge for access to their material, according to Elon Musk’s post.
The changes could persuade more content producers to sign up for the platform or prevent them from leaving. For the first year, Twitter won’t take a cut of customers’ membership fees, but this might be a move to increase revenue in the future.
After deducting app store expenses, the social networking platform would allow members to keep at least 70% of their subscription profits on mobile.
By enabling users to use their Twitter accounts for profit, Musk is in direct competition with Substack. Musk did not, however, provide the technical details of the idea.
