Ghusl-e-Kaaba Ceremony to Take Place on Muharram 15 After Fajar Prayer

Every year, on Muharram 15 (August 2), the Ghusl-e-Kaaba ceremony takes place at Masjid al-Haram in Saudi Arabia after the Fajr prayers. The person responsible for performing this practice is Makkah’s Governor, Prince Khalid al-Faisal.

During the ceremony, Prince Khalid washes the inside of the Holy Kaaba using a special mixture of Zamzam water and rose water. After the Ghusl-e-Kaaba, he also participates in Tawaaf, which is an essential part of the holy ritual.

This tradition of washing the Kaaba is an event that dates back to the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is said that the Prophet used to wash the Kaaba twice a year, once in Muharram and the other before the start of the month of Ramadan.
