Islamabad, November 10, 2025 — In a major boost to Pakistan’s digital economy, Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced that Google has officially completed its registration in Pakistan and is set to open a local office soon. The development marks a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to attract global tech giants and strengthen its digital infrastructure.
Speaking to the media, the minister emphasized that Google’s presence in Pakistan will enhance opportunities for innovation, digital skills development, and investment in the local tech ecosystem. “The establishment of Google’s office will further strengthen Pakistan’s position as a growing digital hub in the region,” she stated.
Alongside this development, the minister also revealed that Chromebook manufacturing has commenced in Haripur. The initiative is expected to produce between 500,000 and 600,000 units annually, promoting local assembly, technology transfer, and employment opportunities in the region.
Industry experts view this as a pivotal moment for Pakistan’s IT and manufacturing sectors, as it reflects growing investor confidence and the government’s commitment to advancing the “Digital Pakistan” vision. The combination of Google’s local presence and Chromebook production is anticipated to not only boost digital literacy but also make affordable computing more accessible across the country.
This move is part of the government’s broader strategy to foster public-private collaboration, attract foreign investment, and create sustainable job opportunities in the fast-evolving global digital landscape.
