The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to launch a scholarship programme for Madrasa (Seminaries) students on the pattern of the Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen Scholarship Program.
According to a news release published on Sunday, the decision was made at a meeting of the Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department held here the other day, with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan in the chair.
The Chief Minister instructed the Auqaf and Religious Affairs department’s high ups to take the necessary step to begin the scholarship programme.
The Chief Minister also directed the Auqaf department’s high ups to finalize necessary amendments to the Waqf Properties Ordinance 1979 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and present them to the provincial cabinet for formal approval, with the goal of ensuring better and more efficient management of Waqf properties across the province.
The meeting was informed that, in addition to necessary amendments to the existing law, new rules were being drafted to improve the department’s overall efficiency and ensure better utilization and management of its commercial properties, and that they would be presented to the provincial cabinet for formal approval soon.
