Amer Ali Ahmed, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), and Rina Saeed Khan, Chairperson of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), paid a visit to the closed Islamabad Zoo on Saturday to discuss the establishment of a virtual zoo at the site.
Following an injunction from the Islamabad High Court(IHC) , the zoo was closed in December 2020.
It was also determined that two-thirds of the area would be dedicated for public entertainment, with documentaries and high-tech movies being shown and a virtual show being held every evening.
One-third of the area will be utilised as an animal rescue and rehabilitation centre, after two endangered leopard cats were taken from Karachi and treated at a private clinic before being released into Margalla Hills last month.
