After expressing concerns about unseemly exchange of views between political parties during the Senate elections, the government has released new guidelines banning officials from key departments from using social media.
All departments including secretarial divisions, and chief secretaries of all provinces have received an official notification in this regard.
The government has directed staff to identify social media groups where sensitive information is exchanged, according to the notice. If these groups are detected, the government will consult with related IT departments to immediately block them. Government workers are also advised to use a dual authentication method to maintain and secure their data from being compromised, according to the notice.
