Govt Increases Fuel Prices by Up to Rs. 4.07

The government has announced another increase in fuel prices which took effect from October 1, 2025. Petrol and diesel prices have both been raised, adding more pressure on people already facing high living costs.

According to the new rates, the price of petrol has gone up by Rs. 4.07 per liter, reaching Rs. 268.68. Diesel prices have also been raised by Rs. 4.04 per liter, bringing the new price to Rs. 276.81.

Officials explained that the adjustment was made in line with changes in international oil markets and the impact of the exchange rate. They added that such revisions are necessary to manage the country’s energy imports and maintain stability in fuel supply.

The rise in prices is expected to affect transport and goods movement as diesel is widely used in trucks and buses. Economists believe the increase may lead to higher prices of daily essentials, putting more burden on households.

Many citizens expressed concern over the frequent fuel price hikes, saying it directly affects their monthly budget. Despite the criticism, the government says these changes are unavoidable to meet financial and energy challenges.
