The government has announced a significant reduction in petrol prices, resulting in a decrease of up to Rs8 per litre. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar shared this news during a televised speech. After the price adjustment, petrol will now cost Rs262 per litre, which is Rs8 less than before. Similarly, diesel will be priced at Rs253 per litre, a decrease of Rs5.
These new prices will come into effect from midnight tonight and will remain the same for the next two weeks, providing stability in petroleum product costs. Minister Dar also mentioned the overall reductions observed in May, with petrol prices having decreased by a total of Rs20 per litre and diesel prices lowered by Rs35 per litre.
The government’s decision aims to ease the financial burden on the public and make essential commodities more affordable.
