Govt Sacked 164 Doctors in Punjab Due to Repeated Absence From Duty

As many as 164 doctors have been fired from Punjab’s Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department due to their perpetual absence from work.

Disciplinary action was taken against the absentee medics based on a “charge of misconduct under Section 7(b) read with Section 5(1)(a) of the Punjab Employees Efficiency Discipline and Accountability Act,2006,” according to a department notification.

According to the notification, they did not respond to a show-cause notice that was given on them, nor did they attend in person to explain their stance.

They were also given one more chance to be heard in person by having their show-cause notices published in an Urdu daily, but they did not show up.
