Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a strict ban on wall chalking across the province. The decision is part of a major beautification campaign aimed at giving cities a cleaner and more attractive look.
Under this plan, both government and private building walls will be cleaned, repaired, and upgraded. Areas that were once covered with advertisements, graffiti, or encroachments will now be turned into clean, vibrant spaces.
The goal is to promote civic responsibility and preserve the natural and architectural beauty of Punjab’s urban areas.
So far, 132 beautification projects worth Rs. 16.5 billion are in progress across 39 districts of the province. Major cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Rawalpindi are at the center of this transformation.
Each project focuses on improving the city’s appearance, making public spaces more organized, and ensuring a welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
The initiative also includes the remodeling of historical gates, upgrading traditional markets, and installing tuff tiles along main roads and walkways. These efforts will not only improve the visual appeal of the cities but also boost tourism and local business activity.
Officials say the campaign reflects the provincial government’s commitment to sustainable urban development and community pride. By removing wall chalking and restoring clean surroundings, the Punjab government aims to set new standards for public cleanliness and urban beauty.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed all local administrations to ensure strict enforcement of the ban and timely completion of ongoing projects.
