The federal government took decision to raise the petroleum products prices from September due to it has reached an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
Letter sent to the IMF after being signed from prime minister and finance minister, Pakistan has assured them that the charges on petroleum would raise period-wise to Rs50 per liter.
As per reports, the charges on petrol would grow by Rs10 from September 1. However, this would take the total levy to Rs 30/ liter.
Whereas, the charges on diesel would raise by Rs5 to Rs15/liter.
However, in the upcoming months, it would increase by Rs5 each month in order to take the charges of petroleum products to Rs50 by January 2023.
In addition, the imposition of petroleum charges was one of the condition for the continuity of the IMF loan program.
