Recently, the government planned to sell two LNG-fired power plants to Qatar and decided to offer 51% stakes in the Roosevelt Hotel, New York, and the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
PM, Shehbaz Sharif decided in a meeting convoked to start preparations for his visit to Qatar next week, which is likely to be in August 22 to 23.
Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and Finance Minister Miftah Ismail were also present in the meeting.
Recently, in a meeting it was decided that in The Roosevelt Hotel, Pakistan should offer 51% stakes while New York, and the PIA along with the management control to Qatar.
However, as per PIA law bar selling more than 49% stakes and giving management control to any other party. Revival of the legal process of PIA law should be initiated on priority to do away with the restricting clause.
As per sources, it was also decided that the Islamabad International Airport’s management should be also offered to Qatar along with handling of air and cargo business.
Under a transparent policy more flight should be offered to Qatar in order to make it attractive, as per sources.
