The Senate Committee on Information and Telecommunication has recently been notified that the administration wants to register freelancers in the country over fears of money laundering.
Officials from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication told the Senate Committee on Information and Telecommunication, which was chaired by Senator Kauda Babar, that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) are concerned that unregistered freelancers can be a source of money laundering.
The members of the committee raised their concerns over the registration of freelancers. The members further claimed that rather than assisting freelancers, the government was causing them troubles.
