Gwadar Declared as ‘Tax-Free Zone’

The government of Baluchistan made a major announcement on Saturday, designating Gwadar as ‘Tax-Free Zone’. It refers to the region where services and excise taxes as well as property and transfer taxes will not be implemented.

Senator Kauda Babar, representative of Gwadar district expressed admiration on the decision of provincial government and stated that it reflects positive development. The senator stressed that the federal government should lower taxes and provide relief to citizens.

The tax-free zone will be the revitalization of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The decision will promote activities at the port increasing investment and revenue options. Kauda Babar also stated that Dubai and Singapore progress was seen only because of the tax-free zones.

The decision if implemented can be a significant development having the potential to become an investment hub.
