The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory warning of rain and snowfall in northern parts of Pakistan from December 13 to December 18.
According to the advisory, several areas are expected to be affected by this weather system. These include upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kohistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and some regions of Balochistan. Heavy snowfall is likely in mountainous areas, while plains and lower regions may experience light to moderate rainfall.
The NDMA has warned that the expected snowfall could lead to road closures, traffic delays, and difficult travel conditions, especially in hilly and mountainous regions. Landslides and slippery roads may also pose risks during this period.
Travellers, tourists, and local residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly to high-altitude areas. People are encouraged to stay updated with weather reports and follow instructions issued by local administrations and emergency services to ensure their safety.
Authorities have also urged relevant departments to remain alert and prepared to respond to any emergency situations caused by the weather. Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures, keep emergency supplies ready, and check road conditions before planning any travel.
