HEC Issues Mandatory Compliance Notice! All Universities and Degree Awarding Institutions Across the Country Required to 100% Shift Online

Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued an important notice to all universities and degree-awarding institutions across the country. The commission has directed these institutions to immediately follow austerity and energy-saving measures announced by the Prime Minister.

According to the HEC, all universities must strictly follow these instructions without delay. The decision is part of the government’s efforts to reduce energy consumption and manage resources more efficiently during the current economic and energy challenges.

Under the new guidelines, universities have been asked to shift completely to online classes. This means that teaching and learning activities will take place through digital platforms instead of traditional classroom settings. The move is expected to help reduce electricity usage and operational costs in educational institutions.

In addition, universities have been instructed to adopt a four-day workweek. Under this arrangement, official work will take place from Monday to Thursday. This step is intended to further reduce energy consumption in offices and campuses by limiting operational days.

The directive also encourages institutions to implement work-from-home arrangements for staff wherever possible. By allowing employees to work remotely, universities can lower energy use in office spaces while ensuring that administrative tasks continue smoothly.

The HEC emphasized that all institutions must ensure full compliance with these instructions. University administrations have been advised to make the necessary arrangements quickly so that academic and administrative activities can continue without disruption.

These measures reflect the government’s broader strategy to conserve energy and reduce expenses while maintaining the continuity of higher education across the country. Universities are now expected to follow the guidelines carefully and report compliance as required.
