The expected reduction in petrol prices by around 36 rupees per liter and high-speed diesel (HSD) by about 19 rupees per liter starting from October 16, 2023, is linked to fluctuations in global oil prices.
This potential decrease would lower the price of petrol to around 285 rupees per liter, compared to the current rate of 323.38 rupees.
Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) may witness a decline of about 19 rupees per liter, bringing it down to 318.18 rupees per liter for the next two weeks. However, the final decision rests with the interim government.
Earlier, on October 1, petrol prices in Pakistan were reduced by 8 rupees per liter after two months of price increases, setting it at 323.38 rupees per liter.
At the same time, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) experienced a decrease of 11 rupees per liter, making it available at 318.18 rupees, while kerosene oil prices were reduced by 7.53 rupees per liter, lowering it to 237.28 rupees per liter.
The improvement in the value of the Pakistani rupee is also contributing to lower petroleum product prices. The government is set to make the final decision on October 15.
