The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to increase the pay for its players as a way to recognize their talent and dedication to the sport. According to Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, the board values its cricketers and wants to show appreciation by providing them with better financial rewards.
Top players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi will now receive a monthly retainership fee of PKR 4.5 million each, which is a significant increase compared to their previous contracts. The PCB also plans to raise the pay for players in other categories to ensure that all cricketers feel well-rewarded for their skills and efforts while playing for the national team.
Additionally, the PCB is giving players more flexibility to participate in international leagues. A-category cricketers can join one T20 league per year, B-category players can participate in two leagues annually, and C-category players have the opportunity to take part in three leagues per year.
To create stability, the PCB is offering three-year contracts to players, which means they won’t have to worry about annual renewals and any potential disputes that may arise. This move aims to help both players and the PCB focus on the game and work together harmoniously.
