Google has shared its annual list of the most popular searches in Pakistan for 2025, revealing what caught the nation’s attention throughout the year. The ranking reflects the topics that saw the fastest rise in interest, based on billions of searches made by Pakistani users.
The search trends cover a wide mix of categories, showing how people explored sports, breaking news, cooking ideas, technology tools, and everyday problem-solving.
Cricket continued to dominate online curiosity. The most searched match of the year was Pakistan’s clash with South Africa, which created massive buzz among fans. Other major events like PSL, Asia Cup, and several international matchups involving Pakistan, India, New Zealand, West Indies, and England also remained extremely popular.
In the athletes category, Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma turned out to be the most searched sports personality. Several Pakistani players both established and rising also appeared on the list as people followed their performance and progress throughout the year
Local news searches showed the concerns and priorities of everyday Pakistanis. Topics such as the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry, flooding in Karachi, updates from Iran, board exam results, and major government initiatives generated heavy interest across the country.
Technology searches reflected Pakistan’s growing shift toward AI tools and digital platforms. Google Gemini led the list, followed by apps like Tamasha, DeepSeek, On4t, and several global AI and smartphone-related terms.
Food remained a universal interest. Sandwich recipes were the top food search of the year, along with popular queries related to desserts, mutton, soups, and easy home cooking.
“How-to” searches revealed what people wanted to learn or solve. From checking their Karachi e-challan to understanding car insurance, crypto investing, credit card applications, and even creating Ghibli-style photos users looked for quick guidance online.
