Here’s When ‘Heavy Rain’ Expected in Karachi Due to Cyclone

In the wake of up-coming Cyclone above Arabian Sea ‘Biparjoy’, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that heavy rainfall is expected in Karachi from 13th June to 16th June.

Massive thunderstorms and strong winds are predicted in Southeast Sindh with winds blowing at 60 – 80 kilometers/hour. The waves might reach a maximum of 8 – 10 ft. at Keti Bandar Port.

Previously videos have been circulating on social media manifesting strong winds in areas close to coastline. The regions warned of heavy rainfall include Badin, Thatta, Mirpurkhas, Sajawal, and Tharparkar. The fishermen are advised to avoid going in the open sea till the danger is over as there are chances of high tides.

The chief Meteorologist, Dr. Sadar Sarfraz has revealed that maximum surface winds are at 150 – 260 km/hour with 180 km/hour gusts around the cyclone’s center.

People in the mentioned areas are advised to avoid unnecessary ventures towards the coastline to stay away from any harm to life and property.
