Hijab Zahid Becomes South Asia’s First Female Appointed as General Manager of Men’s Cricket

Multan Sultans, a well-known cricket team in Pakistan’s T20 league, is taking big steps to include more women in the sport. They’ve chosen journalist Hijab Zahid as their new general manager, making her one of the very few female general managers in T20 cricket around the world.

The team’s owner, Ali Tareen, wants to make sure there’s gender equality in the team. This move is part of their bigger plan to support diversity and empowerment. At just 28 years old, Zahid will also be the youngest general manager in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

She’s currently the director of Grassroots Cricket and has a master’s degree in Project Management. She used to work as a media manager for Islamabad United. Tareen believes that Zahid’s qualifications make her the best choice for this role among all the PSL teams.

Tareen’s plan doesn’t stop with Zahid. He wants to hire three female coaches before the next PSL season. They’re also going to provide training on understanding different perspectives and dealing with the media.

This shows their commitment to respecting all cultures and giving equal opportunities. They want this effort to bring positive change not only to the team but also to cricket all across Pakistan.
