Two Ways to Check the Registration Status
- The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and NADRA offer SMS services to the general public to enable eligible voters to verify their registration status. The general public can obtain information by sending a text message to the number 8300 and entering their CNIC number. In this regard, an automated answer will be returned that includes the name of the electoral district, the block code, and the serial number.
- Every registered voter can check their personal information in the district election commissioner’s office, where the final electoral roll is kept. On the website of the Election Commission, one can find the addresses and contact information of the respected areas District Election Commissioner’s offices in each of the four provinces.
Eligibility to Cast a Vote
The following conditions must be satisfied for someone to be eligible to register as a voter in an electoral area:
- They must be at least eighteen years old
- They must have a National Identity Card issued by the National Database and Registration Authority.
- A person with an unsound mind is declared ineligible to vote by the court.
- Is deemed to be the resident in the electoral area
- They must be at least eighteen years old
Guide to Change Voting Station
A three-step guide needs to be followed to change the voting station. All these conditions must be met to request the ECP change the voting station.
1. Send SMS to 8300
Firstly, you need to check the polling station; you need to send the SMS to 8300. Text your CNIC number to 8300 and check the details. Type the CNIC without the hyphen or any space. In case everything is correct, you do not need to do anything, but in case you need to change the location, then move ahead to step 2
2. Find the Nearest ECP centre
If you want to change your location, you need to find the nearest ECP centre. The address for each display centre is given on the election commission website list wise, under the section District wise list of display centres is available on the website. In that list, the display centres for each province have been given.
3. Fill out Form-15
To change the voting station to the new polling station. You must fill out form 15 and submit the form with all the necessary documents to the Election Commission display centre of that particular area.
In that form, all the demographic information needs to be filled in. The form is given as follows. You need to completely and accurately fill out the form and submit it to that area’s display centre to demand the change of voting station. The display centre remains on Saturday and Sunday to provide ease to the general public before the general election.
