How to report open Manhole in Karachi?

Karachi’s citizens finally have a simple way to report dangerous open manholes, thanks to a new system introduced to make the city safer. For years, uncovered drains have caused accidents, especially during the rainy season. Now, authorities have created an easier process so people can alert officials before someone gets hurt.

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has set up a helpline that residents can call whenever they see an open or missing manhole cover. The goal is to ensure that repair teams reach the location quickly and fix the issue before it turns into an emergency.

Anyone in the city can dial 1334 to file a report. Callers only need to share details such as the street name, nearby landmarks, and the condition of the manhole. Once the information is recorded, the KWSC team is dispatched to close the drain or replace the missing cover.

Officials say the system was created to reduce accidents and improve public safety in busy neighborhoods. They also confirmed that additional manhole covers are available and will be installed wherever needed. According to the authorities, the city has increased its stock of covers so that no area remains unattended for long.

Residents are encouraged to use the helpline whenever they notice a risky or damaged manhole. The quicker the report, the faster the response.

Karachi’s administration hopes that by working together with its citizens, the city can prevent avoidable accidents and keep its streets safer for everyone.
