The schedule for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India has been announced, along with the 10 venues for the tournament. The event will last for 46 days later this year.
The World Cup starts on October 5 with a match between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which is a rematch of the 2019 Final.
India, as the host, begins their campaign on October 8 against Australia, a team that has won the World Cup five times, in Chennai.
A total of 10 teams will participate in the tournament. The first eight teams have already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League, while the final two spots will be decided at the end of the Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, concluding on July 9.
In the group stage, each team will play against the other nine teams in a round-robin format. The top four teams will then qualify for the knockout stage and the semi-finals.
The tournament features several exciting matches, including Australia versus South Africa on October 13 in Lucknow, India versus Pakistan on October 15 in Ahmedabad, and India seeking revenge against New Zealand on October 22 in Dharamsala.
The first semi-final will take place on November 15 in Mumbai, followed by the second semi-final on the next day in Kolkata. Both semi-finals will have a reserve day in case of any interruptions.
The Final will be held on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with November 20 set as the reserve day.
All three knockout matches will be day-night fixtures, starting at 14:00 local time. The tournament will take place across 10 venues, including Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
Warm-up matches will be played in Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad from September 29 to October 3.
