In their tweets, Pakistani Twitter users claimed that if a person enters their PIN code upside down during a bank ATM robbery, the machine will immediately alert the police.
This assertion is completely false.
On May 2, a verified Twitter account tweeted that if a robber forces a person to withdraw money from an ATM, the person should not resist.
The user went on to say, ‘Enter your PIN in (reverse) Example: If your PIN is 1234, enter 4321. The machine will become stuck halfway through and notify the police without the thief’s knowledge.”
In his tweet, the Twitter user also claimed that this special signal is installed in every ATM machine to assist a person during a robbery.
