Imam of Holy Kaaba, Sheikh Saleh Bin Humaid Appointed as New Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has named Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid as the new Grand Mufti of the Kingdom. He will also serve as the Chairman of the Senior Council of Scholars, which is one of the country’s highest and most respected religious bodies.

The official announcement was made on September 24, 2025, by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid is a highly respected Islamic scholar with years of service in teaching, religious leadership, and Islamic jurisprudence. He is widely known for his deep knowledge of Shariah law and his balanced approach to addressing modern issues through an Islamic perspective.

His appointment is seen as an important step for Saudi Arabia as it continues to guide its people under strong religious and scholarly leadership.

As the new Grand Mufti, Sheikh bin Humaid will play a key role in issuing religious rulings, offering guidance on important social matters, and leading discussions on faith in line with Islamic traditions.

His influence is expected to extend beyond the Kingdom, as Saudi Arabia is home to Islam’s two holiest cities, Makkah and Madinah, and serves as a spiritual center for Muslims worldwide.

This decision also reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening its religious institutions. By appointing a scholar of Sheikh bin Humaid’s stature, the Kingdom aims to ensure that Islamic governance continues to be rooted in knowledge, responsibility, and respect for tradition.

His leadership is expected to shape the country’s religious discourse in the years ahead, while maintaining stability and unity among its people.
