Imran Khan Says ‘Freedom Struggle’ Begins Today

On Sunday, PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) Chairman Imran Khan said that a fight for freedom against the “foreign regime change conspiracy” begins today, a statement that came after he resigned from his post as prime minister following a no-confidence vote.

Khan Tweeted, “It is always the people that protect their country’s sovereignty and democracy.”

The great drama that had gripped the country for the past few weeks ended an hour after midnight on Sunday when the opposition’s motion of no confidence in Imran passed, with 174 members in a 342-strong chamber voting in favor of the motion.

Before the no-confidence motion against him was passed, Khan said he would not recognize a replacement opposition government.

“I will not accept any imported government”, Khan had said in an address to the nation earlier this week, implying that the move to oust him was part of a foreign conspiracy.

Furthermore, he said, “I am ready for a Struggle.”
