In an interview with Al-Jazeera on Wednesday at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, he said that his party will easily win the upcoming elections, making the government wary of holding them.
The current government will be in violation of the constitution if it refuses to follow the Supreme Court’s ruling.
Imran Khan said, “I never stated that I would reject the election outcome if we failed to secure a two-thirds majority,” adding that his point is that, when considering surveys and by-election results, the current 12-party coalition in power has only won seven out of 37 by-elections, despite having the full support of the powerful circle and the ECP. This demonstrates that the PTI is poised to dominate the upcoming elections, and as a result, the government is postponing addressing the issue because it is terrified by the idea of holding them.
“I can’t say whether we will accept the result or not, because I don’t know what will happen in the elections and how the ECP and powerful circles will behave,” he added.
