The energy drink company Red Bull, known for its slogan “Red Bull gives you wings,” has agreed to pay over $13 million to settle a US class-action lawsuit. This lawsuit accused Red Bull of using false and misleading advertising claims.
While the case didn’t argue that people expected to grow wings, it challenged Red Bull’s claims of improving concentration and reaction speeds, which the plaintiff argued lacked scientific support.
If the proposed settlement is approved by the US District Court of the Southern District of New York in a hearing scheduled for March 2015, Red Bull will need to pay $6.5 million into a settlement fund within a week.
