Inam Butt, Pakistan’s greatest grappler, earned the gold medal in the World Beach Wrestling Championship 2021 final after defeating a Ukrainian wrestler. The match ended in a 3-0 victory for him.
Earlier in the day, the Gujranwala-based athlete, who won Pakistan’s first gold medal at the 21st Commonwealth Games, proceeded to the final round of the 90kg category after overcoming Romania’s Mihai Nicolae Palaghia 3-0 in the semi-final.
After knocking out Turkish Karadeniz Omer Faruk in the quarter-finals, he advanced to the semi-finals. In the second round of the competition, he defeated Greek wrestler Georgios Tsaknakis to proceed to the quarterfinals. The 35-year-old then defeated a wrestler from Ukraine. Butt defeated his opponent 3-0 in the second bout.
The Pakistani wrestler implored fans to pray for his triumph in a tweet on Thursday, expressing his ambition to win gold for his country.
