Najam Sethi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), recently suggested the idea of hosting the Asia Cup in England. In an interview with an Indian media outlet, Sethi mentioned England as a potential venue for the tournament.
However, former Pakistani cricketer Salman Butt expressed reservations about this proposal. He argued that having a neutral venue like England would not be suitable for the Asia Cup, which is intended to represent the Asian continent. Butt emphasized that it is important to consider the feasibility of such options.
Butt suggested the idea of creating a Euro-Asia Cup by including England and other European countries like Ireland and Netherlands, thus making it a ten-team tournament. He believed this would serve as a dress rehearsal for the World Cup and provide a World Cup-like event with teams from both Asia and Europe.
While Butt acknowledged the value of exploring various ideas, he also emphasized the importance of practicality in determining the feasibility of hosting the Asia Cup in different venues.
