“India has a Psychological Edge Over Pakistan”: Michael Vaughan

During the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, former England captain Michael Vaughan expressed his thoughts on Pakistan’s poor batting performance.

While Captain Babar Azam managed a half-century for Pakistan, India’s bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav, kept the pressure on Pakistan’s batting lineup, restricting them to just 191 runs in 42.5 overs.

Michael Vaughan pointed out that Pakistan appeared to have a defeatist mindset when playing against India, suggesting that India held a psychological advantage. He acknowledged Pakistan’s talent but noted that they approached the game as if they didn’t believe they could defeat India.

Initially, Pakistan seemed to be on track for a high score, reaching 155-2 in the 30th over with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan at the crease. However, Mohammed Siraj’s key wicket led to a dramatic collapse, preventing Pakistan from batting their full 50 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah’s standout performance in India’s bowling attack, with his unique seam bowling style, contributed to Pakistan’s challenging day with the bat. He claimed 2-19, helping India secure a comprehensive victory.
