India Releases More Water Into Sutlej River

India has released extra water into the Sutlej River, which has created a serious risk of flooding in Pakistan. Authorities in both countries are closely monitoring the situation, and a high flood alert has already been issued for areas downstream of the Harike and Ferozepur barrages.

Islamabad was officially informed by the Indian High Commissioner at 8:00 AM today. Soon after, central Punjab began to feel the impact of rising waters. The flood stream is now moving further down into southern Punjab and is expected to put pressure on Sindh’s Guddu Barrage in the coming days.

Head Punjnad is facing one of the worst situations at the moment, with the river carrying over 564,000 cusecs of water. This volume is far above normal levels and has already caused severe flooding in the surrounding regions. At the same time, the Ravi and Chenab rivers are also experiencing strong surges, adding to the danger.

The most alarming river remains the Sutlej. Very high water levels have been recorded at both Ganda Singh Wala and Head Punjnad, where the risk of overflow is extremely high. This has put thousands of families, farmlands, and settlements at risk of heavy flooding.

Authorities are urging residents of vulnerable areas to remain cautious, listen to safety instructions, and move to safer places if advised. Relief and rescue teams are on standby, but early evacuation can save lives and reduce losses.
