India to Play 2025 Champions Trophy Matches at Neutral Venue

The ICC has introduced a hybrid model for its 2024-2027 event cycle, ensuring matches between India and Pakistan take place at neutral venues. Under this arrangement, India’s games in the 2025 Champions Trophy, hosted by Pakistan, will be played at neutral locations. Similarly, Pakistan’s matches in ICC events hosted by India will also shift to neutral venues.

This agreement impacts key tournaments, including the 2025 Men’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in India, and the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup. While the proposal awaits final approval from the ICC board, it marks a significant step in accommodating both nations amidst ongoing political tensions.

Additionally, there’s a possibility of a tri-nation T20 series featuring India, Pakistan, and another team, which would also be held at neutral venues.

The hybrid model is seen as a way to maintain cricketing ties while addressing the challenges of hosting bilateral matches between the two nations. This arrangement ensures fans from both countries can continue enjoying one of the biggest rivalries in cricket without logistical or political hurdles.

The final decision on this proposal and the tri-nation series is expected to be made during the ICC board’s next meeting. If approved, this hybrid approach could become a precedent for handling similar situations in future ICC events.
