Indian Journalist Criticizes BCCI and ICC Over Political Control of Cricket

An Indian journalist has accused the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) of allowing politics to take control of cricket.

She said that cricket in India is no longer being run independently and that political pressure now plays a major role in decision-making.

According to the journalist, political influence and commercial interests are shaping key cricket decisions, which is damaging the fairness and integrity of the sport.

She believes that cricket boards are no longer acting only in the best interest of the game, but are instead following political agendas.

She pointed to the removal of Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League (IPL) as one example.

She also mentioned Bangladesh’s decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup, saying such situations show how players and teams are being affected by politics rather than sporting reasons.

The journalist argued that athletes are becoming victims of political conflicts, even though they have no role in these disputes. She said players should be allowed to compete freely, without being caught in political tensions between countries.

She also criticized the ICC, claiming it has become too closely aligned with Indian authorities. According to her, this close relationship raises concerns about neutrality and fairness in international cricket decisions.

The journalist added that these growing tensions have now involved Pakistan as well, turning cricket into another platform for diplomatic conflict. She warned that if politics continues to dominate cricket, the sport could lose its spirit and credibility.

Her comments have sparked debate among fans and experts, many of whom believe cricket should remain separate from politics to protect its global unity and fairness.
