An Indian citizen has been arrested after he allegedly crossed the Pakistan border near Kasur without permission, Pakistani police officials confirmed. According to initial reports, the man entered Pakistani land from the Indian side through a restricted border area.
Soon after he crossed, Pakistan Rangers noticed suspicious movement and quickly detained him. The arrest took place near a sensitive border zone where security forces remain active because of frequent illegal movement and smuggling attempts.
Police officials said the man is currently being questioned to find out why he crossed the border and whether the act was intentional or accidental.
Investigators are trying to confirm his identity, background, and how he managed to reach the border area. Authorities have also informed higher security agencies, who will take part in the investigation to determine if there are any security concerns.
Incidents of individuals crossing the Pakistan–India border are not common, as the line is heavily guarded and monitored.
However, occasionally people cross by mistake due to unclear boundary lines in certain agricultural areas especially near villages close to Kasur and Punjab’s rural belts. In other cases, people attempt to enter the country for personal reasons, including seeking asylum, escaping police, or looking for work.
The arrested individual will remain in custody until authorities finish their investigation. If the man is proven innocent or found to have crossed accidentally, the case may be handled under existing cross-border laws and diplomatic channels.
But if he is found guilty of deliberately entering Pakistan without travel documents, he may face strict legal action under the country’s border and security laws.
Officials stated that Pakistan’s forces remain alert and committed to protecting national borders, ensuring that no illegal activity threatens the country’s security and peace.
