Iran Suspends Visa-Free Entry for Indian Tourists

Iran will stop allowing Indian tourists to enter without a visa starting November 22, 2025. This marks the end of a facility that was introduced in February 2024 to encourage more Indians to visit Iran’s beautiful historic cities like Isfahan and Shiraz.

The decision comes after several troubling incidents where fake recruitment agents tricked Indian citizens. These agents promised good jobs abroad or easy transit through Iran to other countries.

Instead, many Indians, especially young people from states like Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, were kidnapped by criminal gangs who demanded ransom money from their families.

From November 22 onwards, all Indian passport holders must obtain a proper visa before traveling to Iran. This applies even if someone is passing through Iran to reach another country. Airlines will not allow Indians to board flights to Iran without a valid visa.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs has issued an advisory asking Indians to be careful. They warn people not to trust agents who offer visa-free travel or promise to help them reach other countries through Iran.

While this change may reduce tourism between the two countries, it aims to protect Indian citizens from fraud and human trafficking.
