Islamabad high court orders recovery of Rs. 197 Million from Ex-PTV chairman and former ministers

The revenue department has been ordered to recover dues of Rs197 million from former chairperson of Pakistan Television (PTV) Attaul Haq Qasmi, former information minister Pervaiz Rashid, ex-finance minister Ishaq Dar, and ex-principal secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad over Qasmi’s “illegal” appointment as PTV head by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The Supreme Court ruled in 2018 that Qasmi’s appointment was unconstitutional and ordered the authorities to reclaim the funds.

According to the SC judgment, at least half of the money should be recovered from Qasmi, with the rest going to the ex-ministers and ex-secretary for their roles in the appointment.
